2009 Citizens Patrol

The Lynnwood Police Citizens Patrol is recruiting new members.  This group of 70 men and women, whose average age is 41, acts as extra eyes and ears for the Police Department.

This team also directs traffic at accident scenes, writes disabled parking citations, opens locked car doors, provides bike patrol of the parks and shopping areas, and helps with weather related or crime scene emergencies.

Members receive extensive training (usually scheduled in the evening) before they begin.  Those who apply must be reasonably physically fit and able to pass a criminal history background check. Members usually work at least 10 hours a month and uniforms and gear are provided.
