Police Clerk

Duties Include
- The police clerk serves as the primary contact with the public for the police department and provides and solicits information all police matters.
- Sells licenses and collects impound fees, bail, and other fines, maintains cash funds.
- Accepts and receipts property and money left for prisoners in custody, maintains contact with court and other cities regarding in-custody prisoners, answers questions in regard to prisoners.
- Performs clerical and reception duties including answering a multi-line phone, types miscellaneous forms, copies, files, and distributes documents.
- Handles people with police business in person and on the telephone, enters case, accident, and criminal history information into computerized system, and maintains log and requirements of people visiting prisoners.
- Performs the duties of a police matron for in-custody female prisoners including searching, taking statements, and attending prisoners.
Qualifications
- At least two year's clerical, administrative, and/or public contact experience required
- Ability to type at least 40 wpm and familiarity with Word, Excel, and PCs required
- Knowledge of RMS/CAD and scanning technology a plus
- Must pass a pre-employment background check and polygraph
- Must possess a valid Washington State driver's license
- Must be able to work holidays, nights, weekends, and rotating shifts
