The mission of the Lynnwood Police Department Reserve Unit is to provide a part-time adjunct to the Patrol Division that enhances the department's ability to serve the community.
The Reserve Unit has an authorized staffing
level of 15 reserve police officers. In 2008 there were three active
reserve officers and one trainee/reserve recruit. The Reserve Unit is under the supervision of the Patrol
Division Administrative Sergeant.
Reserve officer interviews were conducted
several times throughout 2008. Several reserve
officer
candidates were processed for potential hiring,
however, only one passed the rigorous personal
background
standards of our agency.
Two reserve officers operate as Level 1 (solo)
officers. Level 1 reserve officers operate
independently and respond to calls as regular
officers do. This additional staffing augments
patrol operational activities during crucial
hours and special events as well as providing
the shift supervisor greater flexibility in
targeting problem areas.
