Reserve Unit
|
|
 |
The mission of the Lynnwood Police Department Reserve Unit is to provide a part-time adjunct to the Patrol Division that enhances the department's ability to serve the community.
The Reserve Unit has an authorized staffing level of 15 reserve officers and is under the supervision of the
Patrol Division Administrative Sergeant.
Two reserve officers function as Level 1 (solo)
officers and one serves as a Level 2 (paired)
officer. Level 1 reserve officers provide routine
patrol duties and respond to dispatched calls
similar to regular full-time officers. The Level 2
reserve officer assists as a second officer assigned
to a patrol unit. This allows the pair to respond to
priority or emergency calls where two separate
patrol officers would normally be dispatched. This
additional staffing, especially on the weekends
during peak call loads and during special events,
augments the patrol staff and allows shift
supervisors to reassign staff to direct enforcement
activity.
