D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) is part of the Community Services Division.
During 2007, the DARE program was taught in eight grade
schools to 600 fifth and sixth grade students. A seventh grade
curriculum was taught at Meadowdale Middle School and reached
360 additional students.
Officer Correa continued to select a DARE Decision Maker of the
Month. This program allows outstanding students to be
recognized by the community for their mature decision making
abilities. The program has been well received by the students,
their parents and the community at large.
Earth Day 2007
Officer Correa sponsored an Earth Day cleanup at e Park. Over 247 DARE students and their
family members showed up to assist in cleaning up the
park and making it more attractive for all Lynnwood
citizens. Officer Correa also sponsored a “Funtasia
Day” at the local amusement center. Over 400 students
participated in this event, in which the students received
a free admission in recognition of their involvement in
the DARE program. |
