Please join us for a Ground Breaking ceremony at 12:30pm on December 9 at the Recreation Center. Lynnwood officials, the project architect and the contractor will be on hand to help us celebrate the kick-off of the construction project. A reception with refreshments will follow the Ground Breaking.
In October, the City's Permit Center moved from the North Administration Building to the new Annex at 4114 198th Street Southwest. This move also included Community Development, Economic Development and the Fire Marshal's Office. Maintenance crews are working on small demolition and improvement projects to the North Administration Building.
Recreation staff have been busy organizing, archiving, recycling and preparing for the new space. Over the next two months, Recreation staff will be moving their offices into the North Administration Building. Staff phone numbers and emails will not change. The Recreation Customer Service and registration desk will take over the former Permit Center counter, and we'll be open for business on January 4.
The Recreation Center will officially close for construction at 5:00 pm on Saturday, December 19. While most programs are being relocated to the North Administration Building (NAB) and Senior Center, all aquatic and racquetball programs will discontinue during construction.

Beginning January 4, 2010 many recreation programs and activities will be relocated to the NAB, including preschool, customer service and the weight room. The weight room will be slightly smaller, but will still have cardio and weight machines. There will not be onsite shower facilities.
Many activities will also be relocated to the Senior Center. Evening hours at the Center will be expanded to accommodate our schedule of ongoing recreation activities – such as dance, ballet, TaeKwonDo, yoga and fitness.
