Welcome
Along with cool crisp air and changing foliage, this fall brings with it some exciting announcements about the arts in Lynnwood. We have new public art projects which will bring beauty to the city and several opportunities for artists within our community. So put on a sweater, take out your paintbrush and enjoy.
Get Active This Fall – Take A Dance Class With Us!
![]() Dance classes at the Lynnwood Recreation Center are a fun and affordable way to stay active this fall. Whether it be ballroom dancing for couples, belly dancing for the ladies or hip hop and ballet for the kids; our instructors will keep you movin’ through the cold months. Come join us, meet new people and have tons of fun.

![]() Have you heard about Swift Bus, Snohomish County's super fast way to get from Everett to Shoreline and everywhere in between? Well, the five Lynnwood Swift Bus stations on Highway 99 will also be home to some beautiful new public art. Artists Bruce and Shannon Andersen are creating 8ft x 8ft mosaics that feature a compass rose design made with hand made porcelain tiles, stone and glass embedded terrazzo. The opening celebration for the Swift Bus Stations will be on November 29th from 2-4pm at the "Crossroads" station (196th & Highway 99). To learn more about Swift Bus click here.
We’re looking for middle and high school aged students who live in the Edmonds School District boundaries to perform in the 2010 Lynnwood Student Showcase. Singers, dancers, performance artists, musicians and magicians are all welcome. Based on audition videos, we will select 8-12 students/groups to perform at Alderwood Mall on February 25, 2010. As part of the Lynnwood’s 1% for Public Art program, the city will select an artist to create a unique work of art for the renovation of the Lynnwood Recreation Center. (Construction will go from late 2009 to mid 2011) The city would like to acquire an artwork that is:? An outdoor, visually beautiful work of art. ? Colorful, fun, playful, iconic, gathering space ? Invites people to interact with the artwork. A panel of citizens, council member, local arts professionals will meet twice to select the artist from a pool of applicants. In the first public meeting on October 21, they will review artists’ work (through their slides) and resume, and choose three finalists. In the second public meeting, the finalists will present their ideas. Do you have great ideas about how to bring more visual arts, dance and music to Lynnwood? Do you want to advocate for the arts in Lynnwood?
