Code Enforcement

Code Enforcement investigates and responds to complaints regarding building, zoning, land use and nuisance code violations, particularly those related to Lynnwood Municipal Code Title 21 - Zoning and Title 10 - Public Peace, Safety and Morals. We research complaints to determine whether there is a violation and the extent of the violation before deciding what would be the most appropriate action to take. Our goal is to work with all parties to obtain voluntary compliance and to educate property owners about requirements.

Things to Know Before Making a Complaint

How to Make a Complaint

If you see accumulations of garbage, homes in severe disrepair, junk cars, or other situations which do not seem right, you have three options for contacting us:

  1. Call the Code Enforcement Hotline at (425) 670-5420. Messages are retrieved multiple times a day during business hours.
  2. You may fill out a Code Enforcement Complaint Form (.pdf) and either mail it or bring it to the Permit Center.
  3. File a complaint online using the City's Cartegraph Service Request system. You will be required to create a log-in before using the system to register a complaint; the advantage of this is that the complaint status is kept updated.
