For the last quarter (Oct 1 through Dec 31) of 2004, the Lynnwood Police Department Traffic Section investigated a total of 501 motor vehicle collisions. Of these:
- 80 occurred on private property
- Fixed object, parked or stopped cars, and parking lot collisions were the most prevalent collisions to have occurred during this time frame
- The vast majority of the roadway collisions involved two primary violations; either Failure to Yield the Right of Way, or Following too Closely
- The days of the week with the highest propensity for collisions were Mondays and Fridays, then followed closely by Tuesdays and then Saturdays
- Each month during this quarter showed progressively more collisions, however this was expected with the vast increase in traffic flow associated with the holidays and the influx in the business corridors
