| The mission of the Lynnwood Police Explorer Post 911 is to educate and involve high school age youth in police operations, to interest them in the functions of law enforcement, and to expose department personnel to the positive side of American youth with the goal of promoting community service and a positive image of the Police Department to all youth in the community.
Police Explorer Post 911 was formed in March 1996 and currently has 15 male and female members ranging
in age from 14 to 20. The leadership for the Explorer Post is provided by these designated Lynnwood Police
Officers, Sergeant T.J. Brooks (Lead Advisor), Officer Brad Reorda, Officer Ian Ouimet, Reserve Officer Ben
Carnevale and Police Clerk Jacoba Coggins.
Post 911 members attend three meetings each month where the explorers receive training on a variety of law
enforcement topics. This training is both classroom and scenario based. In addition to the three monthly
meetings, each of the explorers is required to provide four hours assisting with tasks around the Police
Department or on other community events. Explorer members who attend all meetings and complete the
service hours are entitled to participate in a ride-along with a police officer on patrol once each month.
In 2009 post members participated in approximately 1,800 hours of law enforcement related training and
volunteer service during activities that include:
