The GC/CM (General Contractor/Construction Manager) has 13 subcontract packages out for public bid. The Skylight and Slide subcontractors have been selected and are working on detailed shop drawings. Complete bidding documents will be available at Builder’s Exchange of Washington at www.bxwa.com.
-
A number of subcontract bid packages have been advertised by the contractor. Project managers are working on contract documents and getting staff and space ready for the transition to the North Administration Building.

The Recreation Staff are developing a plan to move into temporary facilities at the North Administration Building. Our goal is to maintain as many activities as possible during the Recreation Center closure in 2010. Many recreation classes and activities will move to the Lynnwood Senior Center (5800 198th Street SW), with expanded hours and customer service staff to accommodate more activities and participants. Customer registration, the weight room, classes and staff offices will be located at the North Administration Building (19000 44th Avenue W), next door to the Recreation Center.

Project Financing
On November 24, 2008, City Council voted to fund the Recreation Center renovation and expansion. The Council adopted two ordinances, including the financial plan and funding summary and the legal authority to increase the City's utility taxes to fund the project. The Council also approved the professional services contract for NAC|Architecture, the principal architect for the project.
The design and construction costs, estimated to between $22 million and $25.5 million, will be financed initially with bond anticipation notes (similar to a construction loan for private or residential capital projects). Upon completion of the project, the notes will be retired by the proceeds of permanent financing in the form of Limited Tax General Obligation Bonds amortized over a 20-year period.
