Comprehensive Plan and Map
The Comprehensive Plan is the "constitution" for growth and development of the community. It describes the long-term direction and vision for Lynnwood. Visit the Comprehensive Plan page for a copy of the Comprehensive Plan, Future Land Use map, and the annual docket items.
Municipal Urban Growth Area (MUGA)
Lynnwood is located in the southwest corner of Snohomish County, an area the County has designated the "Southwest Urban Growth Area" (SWUGA). This is the area where most of the County's population lives and where much of our new urban growth and development will occur in years to come. In response to these future demands, the City has adopted an area called the "Municipal Urban Growth Area," or MUGA. For more information about Lynnwood's MUGA, visit the MUGA webpage.
Annexations
Cities grow through the process of annexation, which brings unincorporated areas of the MUGA into the City. Annexations may be initiated either by citizens or by the City. The City is currently in the process of two annexations, one for the Perrinville area at the southeast corner of 76th Avenue W and Olympic View Drive, and the other for the North-East-South Annexation covering most of the MUGA. For more information on annexations in general and the NES Annexation, please visit the Annexation webpage.
Subarea Plans
Subarea Plans are plans which study particular areas or issues in greater detail than the Comprehensive Plan. Visit the Subarea Plan webpage for the City Center Plan, College District Plan, Highway 99 Plan, and Shoreline Master Program Plan.
Zoning Map
The official zoning map for the City shows which properties belong to which zoning district. Zoning implements the objectives and policies of the Comprehensive Plan by setting development regulations which are particular to each zone. For more information about zoning, the Zoning Map, and answers to Frequently Asked Questions, please visit the Official Zoning Map webpage.
